WealthWellnessWednesday with Tsao Lin Moy - 07.20.22

TwoSistas and today we welcomed Tsao Lin Moy on this WealthWellnessWednesday! Tsao is an Alternative and Chinese Medicine expert with over 20 years of experience in alternative and Chinese medicine. A licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, Tsao founded Integrative Healing Arts in NYC where she offers acupuncture, herbal medicine and energy healing to treat patients.

Today’s conversation centered around the issues that many Americans are suffering such as stress, anxiety, immunity and sleep. We all want to live a long, better life and for some reason, we are not making the mind, body and connection - in other words, listening and queuing into what our body is trying to communicate to us. It’s about the connection.

Connection to our bodies is vitally important. When we make that “connection”, it will make a difference on how we create and cultivate our habits. For instance, we gravitate toward and focus on the symptom and not the root cause. For those suffering from sleep issues, we wake up feeling groggy and maybe in a bad mood. We tend to reach for the cup of Java maybe a little too much while not acknowledging that the cause of how we feel when we wake up is related to how we slept and how we created our night time sleep hygiene. (Janis shared her issues with sleep this past year.) Our nervous system needs to be calmed. (You can’t calm your nervous system when your mind goes into overload mode of your day’s events.)

Tsao shared that if we are having sleep issues, it means that our Yin / Yan is out of balance. When our Yin / Yan is out of balance our bodies have a difficult time creating Melatonin (the hormone of darkness); therefore, our nervous system does not have a chance to reset.

Tsao also shared a suggestion to calm the nervous system: the 4 / 7 / 8 method. You take 4 breaths through the nose for 4 seconds; hold the breath for a count of 7 seconds; exhale forcefully through the mouth for 8 seconds. (Janis has often practiced this method!)

This was such an amazing conversation Tsao and we can’t thank her enough for being on today’s podcast! To connect with Tsao further, please check out her website and connect further on her Instagram account and click on the link in her bio for her other social media platforms:

MindsetMonday - I AM - 07.11.22

TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday!! Are you worth it? Hell yes you are!! Part of the process of mindset is aligning or in most cases, realigning our focus. Our perception is often meant from being pulled in too many directions - some of it on our own; some if not. How do we begin a healthy mindset practice? Basically, one step at a time! (Ok, yea this is great but I honestly don’t have time to take care of myself!)

We have been faced with this question ourselves and it’s taken us a long time to come up with what specifically works for us. The best of practices is just to #1 start. Look at your day, realistically and honestly. For instance, are you guilty of waking up and scrolling your social media and therefore run out of time and are running around like a maniac trying to get ready? We are guilty of this as well until we realize the “magic” of setting up ourselves for success!

Simple starting tips - (be totally honest with yourself when doing this exercise):
